A STORY ABOUT SKIPPY
We just bought this very rare booklet, dating from early 1930's, published by our former licensee, BREYERS ice cream, which brand is now owned by Unilever, the company that is buying Bestfoods, Inc. (d/b/a SKIPPY peanut butter) for $24.3 billion. For more information on how Bestfoods misappropriated Percy Crosby's famous SKIPPY, and uses sham lawsuits to suppress its piracy of Skippy's licensing business, read the full story on our web site that Bestfoods seeks to censor and enjoin. Unilever has not yet replied to our letter warning of the legal consequences of their acquisition of Bestfoods, which falsely claims it "owns" clear title to SKIPPY. |

Percy Crosby's lovable character from the Golden Age of comics. Joan designed this doll as the first lifelike "Skippy", and commissioned sculptor Lewis Goldstein to make him with porcelain head & composition body, dedicated to Skippy's creator. The doll, with his famous little dog (porcelain) & wagon, was nominated for 2 prestigious DOTY awards in 1990, including "Doll of the Year", is 13" tall, with real leather shoes, hand-knit socks, and a custom made wool outfit by Maine artisans. Only 125 dolls were made, which sold for $395. Joan has several left, now valued at $1,000 ea. Molds were destroyed to prevent infringing copies. No other American-made doll has such a fascinating history and adventures seeking his freedom from his captors...including Skippy's petition to the U.S. Supreme Court to protect his name and persona. |
